Summary:

“Once per game, at night*, the Demon may become poisoned & choose a player: they swap characters after dusk.”

Add the Rook if your script doesn’t let the Demon player change.

How to Run:

At the start of the game, declare that the Rook is in play. Add the Rook token to the Grimoire and mark them with the SWAP? reminder.

If the Rook is marked SWAP?, then each night the Demon wakes, before they attack, show them the Rook token. The Demon either shakes their head no or nods their head yes and points to a player.

If the Demon shook their head no, they act as normal.

If the Demon nodded their head yes and pointed to a player, mark the chosen player with the Rook’s CHOSEN reminder. The Demon also becomes poisoned – mark them with the Rook’s POISONED reminder. Then the Demon acts (in case any ability would make them healthy).

At dusk, if a player is marked CHOSEN, they and the Demon swap characters. (The old Demon stays poisoned) swap the character tokens of them and the Demon. One at a time, wake each swapped player, show them the YOU ARE info token and their new character token, then put them to sleep. If a player’s alignment does not match the colour of their character token, turn it upside-down. Remove the Rook’s SWAP? reminder.

Examples:

<aside> 📖 Some players are starting to suspect the Kazali, so tonight, they decide to become poisoned and choose that they will swap characters with the Witch tomorrow at dusk. No-one dies at night because the Kazali can’t kill. Tomorrow, the Kazali narrowly avoids execution, and swaps characters with the Witch. That night (& each after), the new Witch stays poisoned, and the new Kazali chooses a player to kill. The next day, the new Witch is executed. The evil team give a sigh of relief.

<aside> 📖 The Vortox chooses a dead player to kill, meaning that no-one dies. The group falsely assume that the Demon player has changed, and start to disregard their old information.
