Summary:
“Once per game, during the day, declare that if an evil player is executed today, 1 good player dies.”
The Rancher’s bull kills a good player if it sees red.
- During the day, the Rancher may declare to everyone that they are the Rancher and that they are using their ability. Then if an evil player is executed that day, a good player dies immediately. Otherwise, nothing happens.
- The Rancher may use their ability at any time during the day.
- If the Rancher uses their ability while poisoned or drunk, they may not use it again.
How to Run:
During the day, the Rancher can publicly declare that they wish to use their ability — place the BULL RELEASED reminder token in the centre of the grimoire. Then if an evil player is executed that day, a good player dies immediately. (Do not say why.) Otherwise, nothing happens.
Either way, that dusk, the Rancher loses their ability — mark them with the NO ABILITY reminder token and remove the BULL RELEASED token.

Tips & Tricks:
- Wait until someone is on the block. You don’t have to claim before nominations! Claiming just before a player is executed ensures you’ll test that player.
- Use your ability if you think evil is on the block! You will kill someone if you’re right. However, you’ll also confirm the alignment of 2 players: a real treat!
- Use your ability if you think good will be executed. Although your info isn't as powerful, you can rule out the dead player as evil. This strategy is best if confirming the executed as good or evil would rule out diverging theories.
- Claim Rancher if another player does! If you die, you wont know if you killed evil. You can even recruit a good player to claim whenever you want to release the bull.
- If you want to bluff Rancher, don’t do it randomly on the first day. Unlike Gossip, Rancher can act once at any point in the game. Instead, consider waiting for someone else to claim Rancher.
Bluffing as the Rancher:
When bluffing as the Rancher, there are a few things to keep in mind:
- Use your ability to clear evil players. If an extra death doesn't happen when you claimed Rancher, you can argue that player is good
- Try using your ability on a good player. If you don't have the tools to fake a Rancher kill, you may be better off making an excuse for why your ability failed
- Be prepared to explain your choice. The Rancher can only act once, so they’ll usually be looking for the best time.
