Summary:
“Once per game, during the day, publicly choose a player: you give this ability to them. On the final night, learn the Demon player.”
The Goldsmith hides their gold with other players.
- The player with the Goldsmith’s ability may, at any time during the day, choose to give the Goldsmith’s ability to another player.
- If a player receives the Goldsmith’s ability, they may still give it to another player in the same day.
- If a player is given the Goldsmith’s ability, they gain it in addition to their current ability.
- The Goldsmith’s ability only goes out of play if the player with their ability dies.
- On the final night, the night before the day that the Storyteller thinks is most likely to be the last day of the game, the player with the Goldsmith’s ability wakes to learn the Demon player.
- If a player learns the Demon using the Goldsmith’s ability, they lose the Goldsmith’s ability.
How to Run:
While preparing the first night, mark the Goldsmith with the HAS ABILITY reminder.
At any time, during the day, the player with the Goldsmith’s ability may declare that they are giving the Goldsmith’s ability to another player - take the HAS ABILITY reminder from them and mark the new player with it.
If the game will or is likely to end tomorrow night, wake the player with the Goldsmith's ability that night. Show the THIS CHARACTER SELECTED YOU token and the Goldsmith character token, then point to the Demon player. Put them to sleep and remove the HAS ABILITY reminder from them.

Tips & Tricks:
- If you think you are going to die, pass the ability! It takes a village to find gold. Notably, if you are about to be executed, you should pass your ability to someone you trust.
- Hold onto your ability as long as you can. If you pass early, you can't be any more sure that your choice will live to the final 3 either.
- Don’t pass on your ability at all. If evil isn't paying attention, they may kill players who are bluffing as Goldsmith over you. If they do, you can come out with the Demon’s name in the endgame.
- If you think a good player is being framed by evil, pass the gold to them. This is certainly risky since you could pass to evil or an executed player. Nevertheless, your boldness may reap great rewards when evil tries to save your choice for last.
- Get another player to claim Goldsmith at the same time as you do. This can cover your own use of the ability.
- If you aren't the Goldsmith, claim Goldsmith and choose a player who wants to die. Evil may believe you and kill them!
