“Each night*, you may choose 2 sets of 2 players: all choose which dies. If a Minion is dead & you die this way, evil wins.”

The Crown presents 2 pairs of victims and asks the town – “Who must live, & who must die?”

• The Crown may choose 2 sets of 2 players in order, choosing the 1st player of pair 1 first, then the 2nd player of pair 1, then the 1st player of pair 2, and then the 2nd player of pair 2. These must all be different players. The Crown may decide to choose no-one.
• All players wake to learn the pairs in the exact order that the Crown chooses, and then vote for which pair dies by raising their hands. All players (dead & alive) may vote. On a tie, the Crown then wakes to choose which pair dies.
• The players that the Crown kills are not executed. This is a general vote due the Crown’s ability, not due to a nomination during the day.
• The Storyteller may allow time for discussion or not. It is up to them.
• If a Minion is dead & the Crown then dies due to their own ability, evil wins. Nothing happens if the Crown attacks themself and lives.
• If the Crown dies due to their own ability, and there are no dead Minions, nothing happens.
• Unlike the Chef, the players in each pair don’t have to neighbour each other.

How to Run:

Each night except the first, wake the Crown. They shake their head or point to 4 players. If they shook their head, put them to sleep – nothing happens. If they pointed at 4 players, mark them with the 1: PAIR I, 2: PAIR I, 3: PAIR II, and 4: PAIR II reminders accordingly. (If you wish, point to the players in the same order, just to double check with the Crown.) Put the Crown to sleep. Wake the players up by saying, “The Crown requires your presence,” or something of that manner, then announce the pairs of players, in the exact order that the Crown chose them in. Then run a “vote” for either pair. (This is not an execution vote.) All players may vote. Announce which pair had the most votes (if any) and put all players back to sleep.

If a pair had the most votes, they die - add shrouds to both players in the pair. On a tie, wake the Crown. They point to one of the pairs they chose – both players in the chosen pair die. Put the Crown back to sleep.

If a Minion dies, mark the Crown with the MINION DEAD reminder. (Do this even if they are drunk or poisoned.)

If the Crown kills themself at night, and they were marked MINION DEAD, declare that the evil team wins.

When you’re running the vote, you can use any method you wish, as long as the vote is public. You can get the players to show 1 or 2 fingers, to show a fist or a hand, or to point at the 1st player in either pair.

If you’re using the official app, as of 26/1/2025, pointing at night does not work. To use the pointing functionality, simply change the time to day, run the vote, then go back to night.

Tips & Tricks:

• Consider when to choose yourself or not. If the good team can predict whether or not you would, they can get massive information about where you are for free.
• Choose players multiple times. This can make them very suspicious, and increase the chance that they die.
• Consider choosing yourself on the 2nd night. While this puts you at risk, if the good team is confident that none of the players chosen are the Demon, you are likely to be scouted out quickly.
• Preparing sudden information, like claiming to be an Outsider that was lying about their character, can lead the good team to make a rash decision about which pair should die.
• Choose 4 players that are all good options to kill. If both pairs are good choices, then you can't really go wrong, and the good team can't really go right.
• Consider how various players would play were they the Crown. If you are trying to frame certain players as the Crown, try making choices similar to what they would make were they evil.
• Your Minions are your best friends as the Crown. Understand what they are planning to do, how they will use their ability, and how they will react to getting chosen. Take some time to consider what their agenda is and lean into it, so you can all help to paint the same narrative when time is short.
• Choose dead players! This will limit the info your ability might give, and makes it easier to ensure specific players die, or cleverly sneak your way to a sudden victory. In the late game, where every alive player is likely to be the Crown, this can obliterate the good team's rhythm, and quite possibly, lead to a game winning error.
