“If an Outsider dies, a 2nd might become a not-in-play Townsfolk tonight (you know them) & vice versa. [-1 to +1 Outsider]”
While setting up the game, before putting character tokens in the bag, add an Outsider token and remove a Townsfolk token, remove an Outsider token and add a Townsfolk token, or do neither.
If an Outsider or Townsfolk dies, you may mark them with the SCALES TONIGHT reminder or not.
At night, as soon as possible, if an Outsider is marked SCALES TONIGHT, replace an Outsider player’s character token with a not in play Townsfolk token. Wake that player, show them the YOU ARE info token, then their new character token, then put them to sleep. Then wake the Anubis. Show them the THIS PLAYER IS info token, point at the player, and show their new character token. Put the Anubis to sleep.
At night, as soon as possible, if a Townsfolk is marked SCALES TONIGHT, replace a Townsfolk player’s character token with a not in play Outsider token. Wake that player, show them the YOU ARE info token, then their new character token, then put them to sleep. Then wake the Anubis. Show them the THIS PLAYER IS info token, point at the player, and show their new character token. Put the Anubis to sleep.
Repeat these steps for every player marked SCALES TONIGHT.
<aside> 📌 Swap characters most of the time, but not all. If you always swap characters when a player dies, you'll end up confirming a lot of players with no room for evil to bluff. Make sure to strike a balance.
